Bob i was gonna ask why we never see the races he or the Schofields contest,

Time Difference. Most of the flat racing broadcast from Australia is their night racing or from Perth, twilight.

When Queensland metro premiership-winning jockey Jeff Lloyd was laid up in hospital in 2013 after suffering a stroke, he was resigned to the fact he would never ride again.

He was fine with that.

Married and with three young children, Lloyd was solely focused on his family.

His first goal was to stay alive throughout the immediate ‘crisis period’, then to get out of hospital and back on his feet.

“Those two weeks (in hospital) were worrying. I wasn’t even thinking of ever riding again. I just wanted to be a father to my children and being as good as I could get myself,” Lloyd told G1X.com.au.

“It was scary once I had it, because once they had diagnosed it and I was still alive, I thought, ‘that’s fine, I’ll take a little bit of time off and I’ll be fine’. I didn’t realise the scary part is, and why they panicked and put me in intensive care and overlooked me for two weeks closely in hospital … with a stroke, straight after can be the fatal one.

“They said to me, ‘if you can get through two weeks without having a stroke, by then we should have your blood the way we want...
