Marketing and promotion of Racing - Tony Proudlock

Amazing that the warnings were put out there way before the Casinos and Lottos did their part... and the band played on with no regard to the audience

Still a great article even though I agree fully with Louis.

Racing's problems go way back and the current operators should not be blamed for every woe although they are compounding some pre-existing issues and adding a few new one's along the way.

There are three things that need to happen if racing is to regain it's early status as the brain game and the best wagering game in town.
- Transparency of information and easy access to this by the betting public
- Improve the image of racing by decisive action when transgressions occur that harm the sports reputation
- Products that entertain, give punters a fair and affordable wager and is a clear contest of skill

Further to this operators need to treat the re-building of racing as a long term project that needs committed short term intervention for longer term gains.

Will this ever happen, who knows, we can only hope.

Unless the 6% tax is lifted racing can never be the "best wagering game in town". We are in it because of the passion and a hppe that there will be a positive return.
