The Gov, Jeff Lloyd

Never won the July, how wonderful it would be if he could get a ride this year and put this on his list of graded races won. Apparently challenging for the title on the Gold Coast of Australia so riding at the top of his game after the stroke he suffered back in 2013. My best jockey ever!!
Also Chad Schofield, rode last year at the July, wonder if he will be coming around again to try his luck?

Speaking of great SA jockeys, Dougie Whyte landed me a 8/1 winner on Sunday followed by a 40/1 e/way in the QE11 cup ridden by Barend Vorster. Seems we lost some really good quality. Back in the day we had a really good crop of experienced jockeys....... Felix Coetzee, Muis Roberts, Robbie Sham, Mark Sutherland, Striker (still as good as ever), Basil Marcus, Tobie van Booma ................then later on, Mark Khan, Waichong Mawing, Delpech, Anton Marcus, Dougie Whyte, Glen Hatt, Andrew Fortune
Now I'm not sure about the quality except for a few reliable jockeys who can really add a length or two to the horse

Apparently Lloyd was a jockey who plied his trade in South Africa. I read somewhere that he was never a South African citizen.
Brilliant jockey though

For one to truly know the skills of Dougie Whyte you have to go back to the 90's when Dougie and Striker went toe to toe for the jockey's title.
Apart from AP McCoy i have never seen greater artists at work than these 2 guys. It was awesome, Striker riding pick 6's and Dougie booting hime 4 timers.
Those days don't really exist any more.
