"Group" RESULTS - 'Afternoon' Wednesday 21st May Workings...

Afternoon.
This afternoon completed, and went as follows.........
The 1st runner we wanted 1.66, and with being around 1.74 on arrival and then the meeting being abandoned due to unsafe ground! You have to laugh why it took so long to notice, but that's the officials for you!!! so on to the next runner...
The 2nd runner we wanted 1.5, but with being around 1.87 on arrival and not coming down to us at any stage at all, we all had to avoid the race. The runner came there looking sure to win, but the jockey then dropped his whip and the runner couldn't go past and finished 2nd! so 'one that got away in hindsight'.........
The 3rd runner we wanted 2.7, but a non runner and 2.8% reduction meant we now wanted a lay price of 2.65 (2.66 nearest exchange price). The price had drifted to around 2.7 on arrival and then tumbled back down to us and beyond, so we had a lay at 2.66 max. The lay was nicely beaten and so a good result.....
The 4th runner we wanted 1.06, and with being around 1.19 on arrival and not coming down anywhere near our lay price at all, we all had to avoid the race. The runner won as easy as you like, so no surprise there and a good leave....
The 5th runner was a non runner due to the abandonment of Ayr, and so we move on to the next runner.
The 6th runner we wanted 3.0, but a non runner and 5% reduction meant we now wanted a lay price of 2.9. The price was a well supported 2.48 on arrival and so we had a lay at 2.48. The lay went and won far too easily to make layers look idiots, so we'll swallow that and move on............
The 7th runner we wanted 2.5, but a non runner and 3.1% reduction meant we now wanted a lay price of 2.45. There was then another non runner and further 12.5% reduction, so now we wanted a lay price of 2.27 (2.28 nearest exchange price). The price was around 2.2 on arrival and shortening (went odds on), so we had a lay at 2.2 max. The lay hung on in a battle by an ever diminishing head, so frustrating, but the way it goes. Traders easily got their trade back prices in running, so got away with it.......
The 8th runner we wanted 3.5, and with being around 3.45 on arrival and slightly shorter, we had a lay at 3.45 max. The price then went the other way, and out to our lay price of 3.8 and slightly beyond, before coming back in again, then out again, so a fluctuating market and a chance of a free lay for traders and builders. The lay/trade was nicely beaten and so a good result.....
The 9th runner we wanted 2.8, and with being a well supported 2.62 on arrival, we had a lay at 2.62. The price then went for a walk and out to our own price of 3.1 and slightly beyond, before tumbling back down again, so a fluctuating market and a chance for traders and builders to have a 'free' lay. The lay/trade was beaten and so a good result......
The 10th and final runner we wanted 1.7, and with being around 1.8 on arrival and then dropping down to us and beyond, we had a lay at 1.7 max. The lay went and won, so the way it goes...
WELL PLAYED/BATTLED..........................(3 from the first 5 (60%) went and won (2 nr's)- and plenty of drifters/free bets, and so it was made tough, but we stood strong and well played/battled guys)
'Rolling' strategy/target players (no 'free' lays for them) ended level.........They started their 1st strategy/target on the 3rd runner, and after a battle they broke level on their 4th lay (the 8th runner) and so with being levels, one potential lay left, and no room at all now for error, they end the session levels........
'Bank builder' strategy/target players had their 1st lay (the 3rd runner) at 2.66 max, and a good result see them win a chunk of their targets........Then came their 2nd lay (the 6th runner) at 2.48, but a poor result see them give it back, or go a little behind........They then had their 3rd lay (the 7th runner) at 2.2 max, but a poor result see them go behind......Then came a 'free' lay (the 8th runner) that bought a tiny profit........Then yet another 'free' lay (the 9th runner) that bought another tiny profit..........They then ended with their 4th lay (the 10th and final runner) at 1.7 max, but a poor result see them concede between 0.87 - 1.6 targets...

Traders had to concede a little on the 6th runner at 2.48, and the 10th runner at 1.7 max, so not the best of sessions, but no damage done and they'll try to recoup that little loss this evening..
So another tough session, and builders had to battle against winners and drifters throughout, which cost them their targets, and so although a little loss they'll accept it and either chance this evening, or return in the morning. Rollers ended levels, so they'll take that on yet another tough afternoon at the office. Good luck if you go in for a bit this evening, but I'm off out and so speak again in the morning...
Marc.
