Destined for Dawn & Carlin

This is what we live for!
Great excitement for Sportofkings.co.za Syndicate members.. for the first time we have 2x horses in the same race.. one at the top and one at the bottom of the betting boards and saddle cloth numbers.
Destined for Dawn we are confident is looking for further as he doesn't have the top speed required to pace it out in a sprint, but has shown all indications that he has the stamina and cruising speed to relish a mile. This 1400m is a prep run for further next time out and we've put him in because there's no mile races on the poly for a full month. He's come well over the past 2 weeks and his work is literally faultless, however this is no guarantee at the races and he may still need the run a touch over this extended trip. He also jumps from a wide draw so caution is advised if considering him as the winner. Having said that, personally I do expect him to win or go close and we now wait anxiously to find out how he goes. It must also be noted that he is a nervous type and sweats up very easily and this is probably his biggest obstacle at the races. We have taken the blinkers off because at home he just lusts for the 'go button' at all times and pulls like a train in work. Well done and thank you to assistant trainer John Nel who has put in the whispering time to settle our boy at the training tracks, and the conditioning to bring him to this point.
Carlin is in the condition of his life, I have never seen him looking this good. He is a monster of a handful and his track personally has also changed drastically. Craig has done such a phenomenal job with this horse that I have no words to explain how happy this makes me. This is D day for him after what amounts to a 2yr long journey plagued with problems since bringing him up from Cape Town. There surely can be no more excuses and he must now show serious improvement. He did bleed last time and now comes back after the 3 month ban. He will be given an easy time and not pushed and we will will be on tender-hooks waiting to see him finishing well.
A huge thanks to our members who have made this journey and dream possible. All the best!
