Spent a bit of time going through race trends for the charity mile. This is what I've come up with. A bit of fun...

OK, the stats are fine. However, the next step is to relate them to the frequency of the statistic. For example, you say 54% of all winners are four year-olds. But what is the frequency of all four year-old runners? The more that frequency deviates negatively from 54% the more meaningful is the four year-old winning statistic. My guess would be that 67% of runners are four year olds therefore making the four year old winning statistic of 54% as poor. Do you have the time to do?

I am sure Wolf Power won the race twice in a row in the 80's.

Appreciate the comments...
Mac I understand what you are saying, the idea behind the info graphic was a bit of fun and potentially to use things like this in future for people who don't understand all the form and are new to racing. Yes using frequency and deviation would be the way to go if you were getting delved in the stats of this. But I have no intention of doing that

The reason for 4yr olds being so prominent is that the three-year-olds are normally being prepped for their Classic season and are not forward enough to take on their elders in Gr 1 races yet. The 4yr olds have made natural improvement and hence they have caught up to their elders at this time of year who have more or less reached their pinnacle. If the race was run in April or May then I'm sure three-year-olds would feature strongly.
