Turffontein Saturday

Bull valley @5/2 is a huge price. I have this one at a MR105 being conservative. Pumped Nephrite on debut and that horse is running off a 105 now and Zaki said earlier this year he's quicker than prospect strike who runs off a 109 now. This is a prep run for the end of the month but I think a 75% Bull Valley shows this field flames. First run he was green and lost a couple lengths at the gate and only worked out where it was 200m from home and left them for dead from a good 6 lengths back. With the rest and gelding it would have strengthened nicely and this one will win graded races this season, will be following all season long. Think 5/2 is huge when the next favourite is a horse that he beat by 2.5 lengths on debut and is at level weights once again. (exacta with Al Azrak, would've won last time out if they didn't have to replace his shoe at the start. Also underrated by the handicapper)

In other news I'm interested to see how the Zaki's horses run in the second and sixth. Think Leila's Charger is very good but this will be the acid test. 3/1 is a decent opening price and have taken a small interest double and treble with the Zaki horse in the second. Lumping on BV though.

Price gone but I still think this one will start below evens, small field so the turn shouldn't be too much of an issue. Should win going away unless it's lost a leg during its rest.

I love this filly BUT I think 1200m to short - Nothing wrong with Leila's Charger - very strong debut in fast time - Has a draw while Persian must come from outside on an unseen course. She also has mind problems so over the sprint Zaki's entry for me. Persian has the Triple Tiara or Empress Club as her missions I presume so this just an opener for Feature Races.

I think appy Eric Ngwane can ride a bit - I would include him in the appy races with his best probably being Al Dee Kay

I think Joan Ranger is Feature material danger is Casey Can who I think is also above average.

Race 6, Progress Plate: #1 PERSIAN RUG; an impressive winner on her first start; classy; best weighted; lightly raced; runs fresh; Delphech-de Kock combo.

Prosperous punting B)
