Form studying

As a new guy on the site I have read many interesting posts and there are lots of experience and knowledgeable people here.
I have noticed that Wouter for one, has mentioned that his "winning strike" improved after started studying horses' form.
I realise this must be a slept for some and a huge task but it would be nice if someone could post a brief summarised piece to explain what new guys like myself must look for when studying form. The different classes, MR ratings etc is all greek to me, but I am very keen to learn and any pointers will be much appreciated.
Thanks.
