Jockey Hayes hit with
big ban at Tipperary
By Tony O'Hehir 9:15PM 14 MAY 2015
JOCKEY Frank Hayes, who finished ninth on 50-1 shot Hunters Of Acres in the maiden hurdle at Tipperary on Thursday, was banned for 14 days after stewards judged he had "failed to take all reasonable measures to obtain his best possible placing" on his mount.
Trainer John Burke was fined €1,500, while the five-year-old is banned from running for 42 days.
Towards the rear early on, Hunters Of Acres took closer order from halfway before being pushed along in 11th three out. She then kept on at one pace.
Hayes, handed a further two days for failing to initially report to officials anything that might have affected the mare's performance, said his instructions were to settle the daughter of Touch Of Land in seventh or eighth and give her plenty of light to jump with confidence.
He added, however, she lost her action on the ground, described as soft to heavy.
Burke was found in breach of a rule relating to running a horse "in a condition that precluded her chance of winning" and "for the purpose of giving them a school".

a rule relating to running a horse "in a condition that precluded her chance of winning" and "for the purpose of giving them a school"
sorely needed in SAF, plus more.
