Jack Hobbs needs to improve but couldnt have been more impressive at Sandown

Big race meeting this week from York

The Dante has attracted the 1st 3 in the betting for the EPSOM Derby. Jack Hobb, Elm Park and John F Kennedy..

The last Derby winner from the race was Authorised in 2007, But The Grey Gatsby won the race last year before winning the French Derby and a host of other races..
Work Force finished 2nd in the race a few years ago before winning the Derby..

Anthem is a class act and hopefully it will win.
I'd rather have a full bottle in front of me than a full frontal lobotomy !!!!!!!

Park aims to put down Derby marker in Dante
By Tom Kerr and Mark Storey racingpost.com

ELM PARK may trail Jack Hobbs in the betting for the Investec Derby but connections believe he is the one to beat when the two Classic contenders meet in Thursday's Betfred Dante Stakes at York.

The Andrew Balding-trained Elm Park is 8-1 for the Derby, as compared to Jack Hobbs' best price of 6-1, but he has already won at Group 1 level while Jack Hobbs supporters can only point to a wide-margin handicap victory.

The John Gosden-trained Jack Hobbs has been all the rage in the market since that devastating win at Sandown last month, but confidence is high behind Elm Park, winner of October’s Racing Post Trophy, a race that has produced four Derby winners this century.

Elm Park has not been seen since, but the current good to soft ground is a plus and David Redvers, racing manager for owners Qatar Racing, said: "We ideally wanted to run him in the Guineas but the ground was too fast to risk him then. This is the next best trial.

"He is one of the top rated horses in the Derby and he has to go to York for the experience. We are very optimistic that is he is going to give a good show.

"It does look a very hot race but not wanting to sound overly bullish he is the one the rest of them have got to beat.

"We were really worried about running him on very fast ground going down the hill at Newmarket. The whole point of a prep is to have him spot on for the Derby, not risk jarring him up. The fact there has been some rain just means we know he will handle the ground perfectly and it helps him."

I've often wondered this? But got a feeling they are not

Anyway was a great performance , don't think the 2nd Jack Hobbs will act around Epsom and the owner/breeder of the winner needs to supplement and is adamant that his horse won't stay
