Day in the life of a lightie

Spare a thought for the jocks, there are very few good lightweight jocks anywhere in world racing , most jocks that can ride the lighties are usually young inexperienced appies or journeyman pros that usually get stereotyped as lighties and struggle to pick up the better rides when they are not needed .
I was talking to a jock recently he had just finished a 4 hour bath and was about to go to bed wearing a full tracksuit, the next morning he was going to ride about 10 out wearing a heavy jacket then head to the gym for an hour before sitting in a roasting bath for 2 to 3 hours again . Drive to the races and sit in the steam room for 3 hours before his only ride of the day.
incredible

The human race has become much taller over the last generation or so ago.
Patagonia means the Land of the Giants but the Patagon Indians were only about 5' 11''. The Spanish thought they were giants because they, the Spanish, were only averaging 5' 5''!
They say today's 12yo can fit into Roman armour.
There was a lot of talk about widening football goals because they reckon the average goalie is now 5 inches taller (I think more) than when the goals were first spec'ed.
I think we have seen the minimum riding weights increased at least twice in our lifetime. Remember the 44kg weights and someone would still put on an appie. Whenever I see him I often spare a thought of what Bernard Fayd'herbe must go through!
