why?
The horses are bred to run in this sphere, their careers are far longer than flat horses, they run mostly on going with soft in the discription.
Most natoinal hunt bred horses dont even debut until they are 4
They are mostly rested between runs, and get 4 or 5 months of most seasons
Well looked after animals, by real horsie people

I was lucky enough to trip over the HD broadcast on one of the other sports channels this afternoon. What a difference a crystal clear picture & sound makes!
Also - No scrolling betting obscuring the runners, no reduced screens while we watch horses circling in PE, no joining the race at the halfway point or later, no presenters brown nosing, no puerile jokes.
It still amazes me that the operator makes only minimal effort to promote UK racing as it has the potential to be so profitable given that they do not have to 'put on the show' whilst their 'big days' are superb.

I found myself cheering McCoy at ever jump, only consolation is we have him for another couple of weeks, a truely spectacular event.

It really is the most exciting race of the year for me, when Baltazhar King fell and you heard the collective groan from that huge crowd then Shutthefrontdoor was travelling so well for Mccoy and you thought it was gonna be the fairytale ending everyone wanted to see but even though the horse got tired, he ran his heart out. Well done to the winner, travelled well the whole way and was given a peach of a ride
Jump horses for me, are the most courageous animals on the planet, they have hearts bigger than the bodies

Point taken, but I personally am very much against this race, great to hear however that all 39 horses this year came out of the race without any injury..

Titch I know this race is tough on horses etc but it's their lives
Watch the replay again and check the loose horses following the field .
On Dubai cup night 3 horses pulled up injured in race 1
In every horse race on the flat in South Africa a horse will return with a niggle, some just cuts or bumps and some more serious.
South African horse lovers send horses to Mauritous and Hong Kong knowing they will be Euthanised , when their careers are over
Every week the Nhra ( might be monthly ) announce the "dead horses " in a list on a newsletter
Every day some horse falls eventing or galloping under some hefer , but that's ok ?have you seen the size of some of the eventing riders Eish

Watched this race and I thought geez these jocks got balls. It was not who wanted to win the race it seemed who was going to get rolled at those higher hurdles. The crowd and the buzz seemed out of this world there.
