Titch, the traditional meeting used to be 9 races, with the occasional exceptions.
It has become apparent that the traditional meeting has recently been reduced to 8 races, with millions saved in stakes (and cost to owners)
The asset register of operators has reduced dramatically due to asset stripping (particularly if you take what those assets would be worth today)
Certainly not an industry going in the right direction

(And on the open bet........... Saftote efforts to counter the situation have been pathetic, to say the least!)

Rob imo the 8 race format is more a result of the current economic climate and not a reflection of the racing product being depleted, casino have also made multiple cut backs on their staff, packages, comp rooms etc for the same reason...

Phumelela interim results 31 Jan 2015 makes for interesting reading .. maybe Bob can post reults here .
