Vaal Night Racing

I believe that in 1945 night racing was tried at the Vaal.

Can someone explain how that was done. I assume that they never spent millions on the concept.

I mean it's still pretty light around 9.30ish in the summer no?

So how about instead of 40m on lights - 7 race card's 600pm - 900pm?

Certainly doable, plus not too late a finish for all concerned - no?

Finish at 9 and then still 2 hours drive back to Pta? Should never have sold Newmarket!!
