Helloooooo ,that is 44 years ago..................totes were closing at an hour before the first race well into the 80's..............................I know as I was one of the bookmakers next door!
Operators have had plenty time to win back their customers from the open bet but don't know how ............... :woohoo:

Had my first bet on a horse of JBK Cooper ridden by Vicky Curtis (Mettle '69) sadly it won

Rob '81 Selwyn Elk had a Tote in Salisbury Arcade open all day, which did not really have any adverse affect on the crowd attendance but Teletrack has certainly made it easier to watch at home as opposed to going to the course...

Making it tougher to get a bet on and more difficult to get information would be a giant step backwards.
More transparency, easier use and a more enjoyable first time and extended betting experience is the right way forward.
Focus on making every step of the experience an enjoyable one.

True as that may be it would be a real pity as it is such a well situated and tranquil course.
Love going there.

Although it was great to be taxi'ed from the public car park to the stands the Big T can do a lot to level surface the car park - ladies with high heels cannot walk there. Furthermore, unlke the Marble Arch, the experience is really rubbish and awful when entering the course underneath the stands. The place is a safety hazard for six feet sixers!
