Compaired with what grooms are paid i dont think stakes are bad

Not true unless you convert to dollars - I always maintain that you cannot compare stakes or costs by converting to the higher currency. You cannot compare South Africa with first world countries

Stakes in a Maiden at Randwick today are 40k Aus$ - The highest for a Greyhound at Connington is 2900Aus$ so not even close.

I am not saying that stakes should not go up in SA but I am saying R26000(converted) for the top liner at a Greyhound meet is not great at all.

I can assure you t6he cost of keeping a DOG is far less that even a riding horse - I'm sure Aus is well regulated but I'm sure there are masses of private small dog trainers - You cannot compare the two codes ever

Mr H it costs between £7- £10 a day to keep a greyhound with a trainer in the UK

so about the same as it costs to train a horse in some yards in south africa
