Never too old to learn something ...........

The other day was my birthday and I received a R50 betting voucher from WSB.

Today I put the whole R50 on Spring Steel in the second and won some R40 and a few cents.

I then took some JP's for R36 - and discovered that my balance was now R4 and some cents.

So they took back (or did not return) the R50 voucher I started off with :dry

Yea they don't seem to pay back your stake with any winning bets from vouchers

Thanks shrek - I asked them about it and they said they don't return the stake as it was a voucher - I then said, 'so it was a loan' - to which the agent replied ' No sir, if it was loan you would have had to pay the money back' :silly:

Anyway - now I know - and at least I won the JPot B)

Surely the point is Frodo would have been better off not having the initial bet, they should really have something making this abundantly clear... if anyone else gets a voucher, don't do any shorties with it!!

Well done with the JP bud and hope you had a mighty fine birthday :)

I ALSO LEARNT SOMETHING NEW from these okes . i had three multiples starting off in a pe race a few weeks back . So i phoned through to have a single bet on the pe horse(first leg of my multiples ) . I asked the clerk for the bet . He said "please hold i need to confirm" , he then says to me i cant have the bet . I ask why ? He says you have it in multiples therefore liability is exceeded .

I try to explain to him , this is a single bet , the multiples depend on other events to be completed . Sorry he says you cant have a bet .

The day after i spoke to a senior trader . He had no clue what i was talking about . He did promise he would call me back thou to clear this up .

Anyway i am still waiting for the call .

Since then not a bet with them and all my business with hollywood !

Agreed. Imagine a casino giving you a promo chip, pays you the equivalent and then gives you the chip back just because you look like a nice guy ;)

Happy birthday Frodo!

Thanks for the good wishes - I hear Elvis has something else (in addition to his birthday coming up) to celebrate

I think in the past years I did receive my 'voucher' stake back - but I could be wrong.

I guess when one thinks about it (and as per the example of the casino), it makes sense, however I suggest that they inform their clients of the conditions in using the voucher, something like

'Dear Frodo, congrats on your birthday, we are pleased to present you with a R50 betting voucher - but do take note that as soon as you take a bet with this voucher, your stake will not be returned' - then there are no surprises for ignorant folk like me
