This was a match that the Sharks could have/ should have won comfortably.
...but clearly they haven't been watching modern rugby recently. Their approach was more Bulls style than even the Bulls play nowadays. I quickly lost count of the amount of possession they aimlessly kicked away. Unsurprisingly the rolling maul was all they ever offered on attack.
Given that it was clearly their 'game plan' (sic) to kick you had to wonder why their kick/chase was so poor. Both wings were particularly inept; Mvovo regularly gets outmuscled by whomever he opposes whilst the Stormers discard on the other wing showed why even the Stormers let him go. He seemed to be sulking after a couple of dropped passes and missed tackles.
I fear that we will see regular replays of this movie from most of the South African sides this season. After witnessing the sheer intensity & brutality of the Highlanders/Chiefs encounter earlier in the day I suspect our sides are going to mostly represent little more than 'bonus point fodder' for most of the NZ sides in 2017.
The only prediction I am prepared to make in 2017 is that we will see a further decline in attendance. The prospects are not good across the board.

Pretty much spot on with all the predictions for the weekend so far including predicting that there would be 30 points scored in the Crusaders v Brumbies match (17-13). Al Madam could well surprise the odds on De Kock runner in the opener at Meydan, juicy 22/1

Still awaiting your congratulatory post Craig. I know that you are wandering along the beach front racking your brains for answers and thinking how you can give me a come back. You can't as your beloved Sharks got humped and my Stormers and Jaguares smashed theBulls and the mighty Kings. Even my other team the Blues cruised to a simple win. Next week it gets even tougher for you as the Brumbies don't ever lose two on the bounce. :S

It's very lucky when you support teams that play football, rugby, cricket, basketball, rugby league,
Highland games, bridge, dominoes and speedway. When one is performing terribly, you can always change sports..

Hope that the two of you are up. If so turn on the telly, then go to the kitchen and make yourself a strong, no make that a very strong cup of coffee and gulp it down so that you are wide awake to witness your beloved Sharks play. At the end of the game pour yourself a stiff drink to drown the sorrow of yet another defeat.
