Was it real money or bookies shortening odds again for no reason ?

Why would it be bookies ?

And why should it place ?

99% of those horses miss everything

As punters can we honestly say we don't look at the betting changes when playing ?

My point is could the bookies be manipulating this ?

This trainer won the first to races in P.E. so I suppose one could expect this horse to be backed.

It was also way over priced on bits of form

Elvis yesterday it was backed from 40/1 into 14/1

Today 14/1 into 7/1

Last time the horse ran in KZN it was not far off them, in better class ( on poly )

Think you have chosen the wrong horse bud. Imo the horse was, as I implied on the daily thread, very much over-priced initially. Would have been all over 40/50s had I had the opportunity, the horse had previously beaten Terrybelle (12s at the time) by 6l, but was poorly drawn and only had one previous (average) poly run at Greyville. 14s imo a much more sensible price but then the trainer also reported the horse was working well and apparently plenty a whisper on course, that probably accounted for the further shortening from 14s.

The bookies imo definitely over-cut prices on some backed horses. Whether they deliberately manipulate the market by creating a false price is possible but unlikely imo, more likely it is other "punters" trying to create a better price on one they do want to back. Ethically sh1t of course but that can be human nature unfortunately and I would think it is very difficult to stop, particularly without much transparency in the industry currently.
