Turffontein 10th Feb 2015 - Standside Track

Though I'd post my selections early
FILL your boots with a Tarry trebile, you can thank me later...
Race 6 : SIRENS CALL absolute sitter, will blitz this field!
Race 7 : WILLOW MAGIC can run sideways and still win, can't wait to see this amazing specimen show his class once again
Race 8 : AMBER ORCHID a gift @ 4/1...
Fire the rockets, lol.
Good luck to all!

Winning Post I am a huge fan of Willow Magic. Won after a very long break as if he was having an exercise gallop. Julius never moved on him just gave the odd push and ran the 400 to finish in 21.8. Even though he is now carrying 60 he should be too classy. When you consider as a juvenile he beat Red Ray over the 1160 at Turffontein. At evens he looks like a nice strike.
Sirens Call is 12 points better off than anything else in this field and has earned that rating. Even her 4th in the Dingaans was not a bad run when you look at LBH she would have won the Fillies equivalent. She was too far back that day and I am sure Striker won't make that mistake here.
Although at very restricted odds, Off The Mark looks very hard to beat. Slow away and running on nicely when green on debut. Finished 2L behind Sensible Lover and that form has been franked on Saturday.
I will be playing a treble on these 3 and if it comes in will stick some on Amber Orchid.

I have Siren's Call running tomorrow. She will be coming into this race fresh, and her prep has gone well. She is weighted to win this, has a fair draw, and she runs well for Piere Strydom. I will be at Turffies to cheer her on.
It looks quite open behind her, with Easy Lover and Forest Fox the two best colts, while there are a few lightly raced, improving fillies to consider as well.
The pace should be good.
As the breeder, I am hoping that Forest Fox runs a good race too.
The plan is to go from here into the Triple Tiara races. Majmu is obviously the one to beat there although perhaps they will be tempted to take on the boys in the Triple Crown instead? Some really good fillies around this year.

very good racing tomorrow night and it seems the graft is for the tarry treble ...my only concern with off the mark is the drop back in distance so will pass on the 5 to 10...willow magic has his 2nd run after a very long layoff and was a handicapped bok last time but tom night he runs in a handicap and gives plenty weight away so will also pass by the evens,,,this must surely be his prep for the computaform sprint which is a weight for age race and he will be cherry ripe,,,sirens call as peterd says she is very well in and this race is restricted to horses bought from the cts sale ...there are a few improving sorts in the though and they could be under rated and these big stake races are very rough affairs so another race that I will sit out and hope sirens comes home for peterd....my idea of a winner at a fair price on the evening is chekkeli who has his 3rd after a rest and gelding so will be cherry ripe,,he is very well weighted over a distance where as a 3yo he ran 2nd to whiteline fever in the gp 2 hawaai stakes and that race was run at wfa conditions and he was 3yos then so if it was a hcap he would have won...he tries 1400 again and it seems this is his best distance these days....the tarry coupling wil probably be prepping and I think his only danger will be Lockheed jester but the 6kg chekelli receives shd see him home...

Thanks for the posts and comments I am going to have a few wee bets and try and win enough for a ticket to Dubai
my only worry is that the heat is hectic and might build up to one of these hectic rain and thunder bursts
Good punting

Good morning Clanners. I am off to JHB as I type this and what excitement as I realized the Tuefies meeting is a night one. The plan is to be on course for my first time at the turfontein track.
I was wondering if any turfies going clanners could assist with a decent box or Resturant at the track to take 2 mates with tonight and show them a good time. Any help would be appreciated.

Richie if u don't manage to get invited into a box, I think your next best is the Furious room / restaurant at about R 160 a head + / -
Don't leave Bernard Fadyherbe out of your calculations / Swingers / quartet tonight - he only has 4 rides - 4 pretty good rides.

10 years 4 months agoThere is only one place to race from and that's the furious deck especially if it's your 1st time,at R150 a head it's great value for money I believe the theme for tonight is "steak night" I will be there to shout Peter's horse home.Richie77 wrote: Good morning Clanners.
