the stakes for the guineas at greyville saturday..joke

in 2001 when hoeberg won the fillies guineas the stakes were 250 000 and now 7 years later they are the same 250 000...in 2001 when celtic grove won the colt guineas the stakes were 500 000 and now 7 years later the stakes are 300 000 ...am i missing something here if so please explain

it is the last guineas of the season and the one which brings the natal tvl and cape 3yos together as the visitors from the cape and tvl are here..

Pirates, what you are missing is that these poor stakes are the biggest fraud in racing.
The costs of absolutely everything has escalated, from a telephone call to yearlings. But years ago (15? 20?) we had million rand races. Races would have to be R8+ million to have the same weight now.

How about for starters, a GI can only be listed as such with a minimum of a R1 million Stake. A GII R600k & a GIII R300k?

7 years ago we didnt have the income from betting on overseas racing like we do today,so you would think that stakes would have increased dramatically since the inception of betting of overseas racing
