The best thing Gold Circle have ever done is install the poly. People may bitch and moan because they love the sound of their own voices, but the bottom line is racing will take place and that is surely more important than anything else? I wish Gauteng would rip up the Turfontein inner track and get the poly in as a matter of haste.

Absolutely p..sed of as are all the trainers and the owners I have spoken to. The first chance we get to justify the polytrack as an alternate track if it rains we get stymied by labour rules. The staff can only work so many hours a month so to keep them under that limit they were given Monday off I gather. With today being a holiday, they all only coming back tomorrow! There is no one at Greyville to run the meeting. All the staff that used to stay on the course in the old days have been moved off the course so they cannot use them. Apparently a decision by the Elan group and Human resources.

Wow what kinda business is run this way? Its like horse racing is a hobby for these people.
i can only imagine people who earn a living from racing must be looking for new careers in KZN.
OWNERS MUST BE GETTIN GATVOL

Craig if that is the reason racing has been abandoned then I can only shake my head and ask what continguency plans are in place, if any. These days even beggars at robots have cellphones why could the staff not be contacted, or is the answer rather, the staff do not want to work??

I second this Sylvester. How can this be allowed to happen?

Overtheair, I think they had to decide pretty quickly and without being sure of who could/would come in. Also with no one on course they all would then have had to find transport to the course if they decided to come to work.

Confused. The other day the talk was that the "Goat track" was the best surface in KZN. Now u all looking for racing on the polly? Why would u want to race there today if it's not your preference?

Craig would you expect this from any big business? Imagine Woolworths/Standard Bank/Petrol stations etc etc not doing business because they could not provide staff on the day? Heads would roll. I understand your allegiance and loyalty to GC but this is pure and simple incompetence. Where is your disaster recovery plan and continguencies? I am sorry this smacks of poor planning, there is no other way around it
