Thought I had posted this earlier, crying shame

Australia: Jockey Carly-Mae Pye has died from the injuries sustained in a fall during a barrier trial at Callaghan Park in Queensland on Monday morning. She was 26.

The rider suffered head and chest injuries when her mount broke down during the incident and Racing Queensland announced on Tuesday morning that she was unable to recover from her injuries.

A successful equestrian rider, Carly-Mae began her racing career in 2006 and went on to ride almost 200 winners across Queensland.

Racing Queensland CEO Darren Condon said Carly-Mae had received the best possible treatment from the medical staff at Rockhampton Base Hospital but was unable to recover.

In a statement, Condon added: "Carly-Mae was a true champion of our sport, who will be remembered as a brilliant horsewoman.

"Racing Queensland offers its sincerest condolences to Carly-Mae's family and partner Tim Cook.

"The racing community, particularly in Rockhampton, is in mourning this evening and Racing Queensland will continue to offer its support during this difficult time."

Leading Australian rider Tommy Berry was one of the first to pay his respects, tweeting: "RIP Carly Mae you will be sadly missed by the whole racing industry. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family."

that's awful and only 26. I think that she is the 2nd lady rider to lose her life in Australia this year.

Does anyone remember the same fate that happened to Damian Oliver's brother Jason in 2002 the same year he won on Media Puzzle in the Melbourne Cup?
