Quality offerings from Ambleway
10 years 8 months ago
Ambleway Thoroughbred offer a small, but quality, draft at the 2014 Emperors Palace Ready To Run Sale.
Ambleway are offering seven well bred and precocious lots at the sale, which takes place in Germiston on Sunday, November 2nd.
First of the Ambleway draft to come under the hammer is lot 38. This well bred colt is a son of champion sire Western Winter, sire of such outstanding champions as Argonaut, Ice Cube, What A Winter, Winter Solstice and Yard-Arm, to name a few. The colt, a brother to three winners, is out of the brilliant Gr3 Kenilworth Fillies Nursery victress Easyjadeasy, who herself is a half sister to Equus Champion and exciting sire Elusive Fort. This colt, who has been named Eternal Ice, is a colt with a real stallion’s pedigree. He is described as “an athletic horse who keeps on improving and will go places.” One for any serious buyers’ short list!
Lot 45 is a daughter of Storm Cat’s son Tiger Ridge, sire of brilliant fillies Cherry On The Top, Leah’s Secret and Maybe Yes, to name but three. Named Dearest Secret, this bay miss is a half sister to no fewer than four winners, and her siblings include talented Gr2 performer Sky Marshall. Out of a stakes placed half sister to Gr3 winning filly Honour And Glory, this filly is closely inbred to the great broodmare Lassie Dear. The vendor describes her as "a spirited filly who is balanced and has good bone."
Western Winter is the sire of lot 50, a filly who shares her sire with the outstanding female athletes Bad Girl Runs, Covenant, Fair Maiden, and Roxanne. Going by the name of Frosted Honey, this nicely bred filly is a sister to three winners, and is out of a French stakes placed mare. This is a top international family, and this filly’s relatives include numerous stakes winners and high class performers overseas. She is described as “a big, strong, lovely moving filly, who is full of scope”. Pertinently, she is from the second last crop of her sire, three times champion in South Africa.
Lot 53 is another son of the great sire Western Winter, whose offspring include 19 individual Grade 1 winners. The well named Winter Prince is from an equally distinguished female line. His dam Imperious Sue was an Arcsa Champion and one of the few fillies ever to win the Cape’s greatest race – the Gr1 J&B Met. Winter Prince’s siblings include Grade 1 winning Navarone filly Imperious Star as well as high class Winter Oaks winner Blue Heather. This superbly bred colt is described as “a strong colt and a great mover. On pedigree alone, he has to run.”
Horse Chestnut, sire of lot 82, was probably the greatest racehorse ever bred in South Africa. A former J&B Met winner and Triple Crown hero, Horse Chestnut has also made his mark at stud. His current runners include top Grade 1 performer Rake’s Chestnut and the very exciting feature race prospect Bold Inspiration. This bay filly, christened Chestnuts N Pearls, is a half sister to talented stakes winner Golden Dawn and is from the great Party Time family, responsible for last season’s Equus Champion Filly In The Fast Lane. This lovely filly has been described as "a big filly with plenty of substance."
Cloud Racer is the name of lot 100, a bay colt by A P Indy’s half brother Tiger Ridge. The latter did well at stud before his premature death, with his top runners including Gr1 Summer Cup winner Wagner, millionaire Kavanagh, Royal Ascot hero Strike The Tiger, and Graded winner Isphan to name a few. Out of a daughter of champion sire Badger Land, this well bred colt’s relatives include champions Cerulean Blue, Grey Sun and promising sire Russian Sage. He is "an imposing colt with plenty of scope and a good temperament."
Last of the Ambleway draft is lot 107, a filly named Tales Of Mambo. By sensational young sire Mambo In Seattle, already the sire of a Grade 1 winning filly in Same Jurisdiction, this filly is out of a half sister to four stakes horses and hails from the family of top US Grade 1 winner Citronnade, who is by Mambo In Seattle’s close relative Lemon Drop Kid. Thus, Tales Of Mambo is a genetic sibling of a US Grade 1 winner! She is "a tall, athletic type with plenty of energy."
