FIXED ODDS ON PLACES.

Can anybody enlighten me on the rules concerning fixed place odds.I have noted that bookmakers in general do not have a common ruling about this popular bet.Some of them pay 4 places with 14 or more horses running.Some only pay 3 places with the same number of horses running.Is it not time for bookmakers to have a common ruling?

I don't think even the bookies can answer your question. This is a bet that they would like to stay far away of. Never got a straight answer from any bookie regarding place bet or decent odds.

Make or break broer thats my policy. I am a two hundred and twenty rand punter go for value.
Never banker odds on in excotics or even took a odds on in my yankee.

to the duke, I got screwed with a place bet a few weeks back. Horse was 8/1 their calculation was to give me 1/5 of 8 to 1 = 1.60 a place.( PROFIT )

horse ran 3rd & paid 4,20 a place ( less your stake = 3,20 profit )

big difference hey,.... havn't had a bet since with that bookmaker after being screwed BIGTIME.

Hiya EK,if u took a fixed odds place bet,looks correct.
All depends on the horses odds @ time u placed ' Fixed odds bet'.Yr horse must have drifted 20/1?
Thereafte,consider scratchings, tax(.06%) deduction on this type of bet.
Shows that the tote offers better value for place bets.

Have yet to work it out myself - they change odds as and when they like(online odds differ when you actually go into the shop) but i'd advise you to take multiples and screw them if you can!!!
