Horse Fitness unknown

Thoroughbreds being athletes fitness is a very big factor however this information is not available to the public. Surely it's not right to expect the betting public to guess if a horse will need it or not. It seems even applying a rule doesn't help cos some horses come to the track unfit just after three months while others come from a year's rest and win at a canter....

The NHA rule says every horse must race on merit....and each horse has a rating that represents it's "merit" but you hear everyday the comment from the connections "needed the run"..........is that an admission of guilt???.....lol
We also hear from local trainers horses need to race to get racing fit, but UK trainers bring horses back from 6 months , fully fit , straight into group races......are they just better at their craft?
There must be more that can be done to take the guesswork out that K999 talks about!
