I honestly don't believe you blokes. I remember reading on these pages a couple of years ago you all wanting Polytrack. Now that you have it you are still having a moan. What must the authorities do to please you all at the same time? I am sure that you all have English blood in you because you cannot stop whinging. Just accept what it is and move on and enjoy as its pointless getting upset about something that you cant put right (unless you stop punting of course)

Bob Brogan taught me a word I never knew existed. I will use it in the sentence below.

You are talking PISH !

CnC you miss the point imo bud, no-one is complaining that the Poly tracks are there and that they will serve a purpose... and a useful purpose. The issue is the standard of the turf tracks. They are maintained abysmally imo and the fear, certainly from where I stand, is that the authorities will not invest and upkeep the turf tracks as they should as they think they can simply move meetings to the Poly. As I said on the thread regarding the Fairview track, that won't work. For all Craig's comments about it being fair to all etc I just don't like Poly racing as much as I do turf racing and the more meetings they have on the Poly the more I lose interest. The fact that the Polytrack at Fairview still has huge issues in being so un-user friendly from a tv viewing aspect of course does not help... and what is being done to rectify that? I have long disliked Greyville, just have, and the addition of the Polytack there certainly has not helped that... to the point where I rarely bet on meetings there, whatever the surface. Yes Craig, we have to move on, but if the product being offered continues to deteriorate then who will be left to watch and punt on it. There is more to it than simply ensuring a meeting goes ahead, the powers need to open their eyes and see the big picture and ensure racing for all is protected and made as attractive as possible and not just ensure their pockets are nicely lined.

I have never seen a track where so many horses get baulked in the straight - Fairview Poly
I have never seen a track where the entire field finish within 4l of the winner so often - Fairview Poly

So its plagued with hard luck stories and form which is extremely difficult to assess. I try not to bet on the Poly (I still do!) but just let the meetings on grass go ahead as scheduled unless the course is waterlogged.

Must go have a dump now Chicken. Chat in the morn !

Harris is absolutely correct!
Sorry Craig, but the bottom line is that Turf tracks were maintained for a hundred years and now suddenly they are in a shocking state. Well, lets see Poly in a few years time.... bottom line is management.... Fairview right now? Turffontein on Sunday.. The kickback on that Turf ? Vaal Sand ? Vaal turf, both sides.. ?
People, maintenance is not happening. .. We have a problem, Countrywide !

LG, I agree 100% it just looks as though management is only good for f......g up everything that is'nt broken. They cant even maintain that which is working.
They are great at selling off all the assets though. BRAVO !!
Craig you cant tell me you are not worried about sending your horses out on these tracks. I am as an owner and a pationate horse lover.
Three years ago I had a go at management about the condition of Durbanville (course for gallops) and was one of the reasons for sending my horses to Natal. What now ? I have to settle for them to run on the poly or stay in the stable ? Great choice.

LG, if you read the 1st 2 sentences of my post at 16:42 again you will see that I said the grass tracks are not great at all. The Polytrack will be around for years. When I was in the UK, Lingfield had been going for years and Woolverhampton was also going well. They have since added more Polytracks. 95% of the training tracks were Poly as well and everyone worked on them. Neigh, I am worried about the horses when they race and that is why I enjoy the poly. As Anton and Anthony amongst other jockeys have publicly stated, the poly at Greyville is the best racing surface they have raced on. You cannot have higher praise than that in my eyes anyway.
