Owner upset as horse (Alexander) injured in race, out for 6 months...

"Whilst we congratulate Gold Circle on their achievements through a traumatic period of considerable change, it is patently obvious that the turf surface has had little or no money spent to ensure the safety of our equine friends. The sale and subsequent closure of Clairwood leaves Natal racing in a very precarious situation regarding quality turf racing in the province. Judging by the number of crippled horses leaving Greyville after Gold Cup day there will be a number of Trainers and Owners who will think twice about racing on the turf track in its current disgraceful state. It is very sad that the horses have to overcome the surface as well as their opponents and far too many on Saturday will have run their last race, " says Neil C Smith

After close scrutiny of the race, I noticed that Alexander was knocked of his stride by Magic smoke and in my opinion this is where he could have been injured, is there no recourse for review of the race and some kind of penlty imposed on poor riding from the jockey of magic smoke. Any comments

Just checked the NHRA report and I see under "deaths Notified" that Alexander is listed with a date of 29 July

Really sad news that the injury was so extensive that the horse had to be put down
