In Play Betting

I have to say ,our local bookmakers unfortunately do not have a clue what this entails.
Have pointed out before that some "in-play" betting is suspended more than 50% of the event.
EG> tonight I took a double with 3 separate bookmakers(because they all provide an "in running" facility) Germany & Argentina to qualify!
When Germany went 2-0 up I tried to take "a" price "Brazil to qualify" as a trade out.
ALL BETTING SUSPENDED until Germany were 5-0 up and then deleted the market?????????
I was trying to give some back by buying insurance for my stake but the sites gave me no chance to do so.Thank goodness.................. they saved me from wasting any money.

They really need to observe the goings on ,on exchanges, to see how "in running" really works...........our guys live in the dark ages and I can understand their fear of exchanges.............they would not know where to begin to compete or counter the threat.

Because they were doubles, none of my bets were with Interbet, but I went there to see how they were handling it ...............regrettably the same as the rest ...............suspended/deleted!!

You reckon it's a staffing problem ?

UK bookies may be shitehouses, but they offer the service

Probably .....in numbers and knowledge, but I think the basic principles of real book-making is a completely lost art.

I am sure we sound like old farts Rob but only Betfair keeps all markets open during play.
Sadly we suspend markets eg the daily news runs July gets suspended and repriced Monday
Betfair you can be watching the 2000 gns and punting on the derby
Just an example

i am 100% with rob here....sometimes u back on a soccer match...and u want to trade out of it in the last 5 minutes...bookies here close the in running....10 minutes before the finish...thats ridiculous...then try calling in for a in running bet especially in a high/fast pacing game like rugby or cricket...u call a bet with the operater....she takes a minute to confirm the bet with whoever, she comes back to put the bet in....she says sorry the price has changed....in a minute..in these sought of games...obviously the games so volatile, the price is definitely gonna change....now when i phone i insist on talking straight with the trading office...once u quoted a price....even if a penalty occurs in that interim...u get what u asked for..

I think the issue is that when the situation changes they don't know the effect it should have on the price so "betting suspended" is code for ........"we don't know what to do next"...................there are lots of bookies but a handful of price setters!
