Agree, surely plans needed to be approved so if there were concerns why is it only coming out now. Unless the concerns fell of deaf ears like plenty of other things in the industry.

I was there when they galloped the other day and all agreed the track was good and the jockeys names have been down at acceptances since last Thursday so if they did not want to ride for any reason then they should have said it then. Why wait until race day? Nothing has changed since then.:S

I believe the problem was that with the new plastic rail any horse being pushed into it would have been in danger of stepping onto the inside concrete drain because of the flexing of the rail. Nothing to do with the tar road.
This week the inside rail down the straight at least was re-aligned with goose neck standards pushing the rail out about 2 feet and the plastic replaced with aluminium.
Must admit that in 30 years of racing not one jock has gone over the rail at Greyville. Always a first time I suppose.

At the end of the day, its been tried and tested, they have raced there last week, seen everything as it is. If they wernt happy then they shouldnt take rides. They had their chance. So let the races begin

I would imagine in daylight racing it would not be a problem.

I havnt seen the glare as i am miles away ,however a bit of artificial grass can solve the problem even lay it on the tar road

i would think the glare from the screen would be concentrated more on that part of the track (along with the hopeful sunshine of course
). I know the horses see a shadow and try and jump it.......would it not do the same for an additional glare making it a little more dangerous at that specific point? Just a question........i might be smoking the good stuff this morning
