According to the recent Tellytrack programme,Australia spent about 10 years with a similar stand-off,which was recently resolved.....................surely it is worth looking at that formula and find out if it would suit both local parties!

As I said before,if "P" and the bookmakers would at least agree to independent investigation/ arbitration ,that would be positive, would suspend any litigation and would surely satisfy Multichoice for the foreseeable future!

As another poster posted, the returns are not comparable as the tote is risk free while bookmakers carry risk and should enjoy higher returns. The best solution here would be for the Competition Commission to investigate potential price gouging by a monopoly.

With all the differing factors can a comparison between UK and SA be realistic.

Correct! UK has a non existent tote. Tellytrack make all these statements all the time and pretend not to know the realities. That, or they really are half unconscious.

Captain Ahab didn't care less about reason. He was just as obsessed to kill Moby Dick.

(tu)(tu) The real enemy is the lack of new racing punters in South Africa not Bookies and totes

Have the bookmakers indicated that they are willing to pay more ?

If there is no starting point for negotiations, how can middle ground be found ?

The bookmakers are saying that at the outset, it was their "understanding" that contributions made by them would only be necessary in order for Tellytrack to break square. How can they not have this in writing ???

Obviously 3% of turnover is ludicrous, but on the other hand, they have been paying a pittance compared to bookmakers in other countries.
Have they offered SOMETHING ? Just offer double or treble your current payment with no escalation clause for five years. Its a starting point.

To me this is going from the sublime to the ridiculus.

The Tote says one thing, the Bookmakers something else and MC has a different tale, are they ALL just telling half truths. Maybe everyone should take a step back and SEE that their spat is destroying Racing and all that goes with it, or are their ego's just so big that they simply do care.

A multi Million Rand business and it's participants CANNOT sort out a problem, that is not rocket science, from Sept 2013 and with a week to go before the switch off of TT the slanging match continues unabated and has degenerated in letters/press correspondence. We YOUR customers still have no idea what is happening as we have not been told.

FFS get together and earn ur Salaries &/or take out and sort out the sh-- that YOU people have wittingly created.
