If what you say is correct, then don't you think that the penalty for a soft ride should carry a heavier penalty , then a horse stumbling.

I'll let the High Court decide that

I have said this before but if I wanted to clean up racing I would make every trainer sign a riding instruction form, co-signed by Jockey before every race. These forms then deposited into a sealed box and only opened after the race. Obviously things happen and Jocks and horses can make mistakes but at least this way you have an "ideal situation" reference point. I don't buy the argument that every trainer will say "sit just off the pace". Also I do think it is very unfair on the Jockey who only spends two minutes on the horse when the trainer has him the rest of the time. How often do we hear that :" I'm surprised by the win as the horse is only 70% fit" - Surely that goes against many NHRA rules
Entering a horse that is a known middle/stayer in a 1000m dash because it has returned from a rest (or is being prepped for another race)flies right in the face of rule 62.1 yet it is allowed to go on unchecked.
62.1 Every HORSE shall be run and shall be allowed to run to the best of its ability and on
its merits.
72.1.34 in any manner, prevent a HORSE from winning a RACE or being placed in a RACE
or from running in accordance with RULE 62.1;
72.1.35 do anything or fail to do anything which may have the effect of preventing a
HORSE from winning a RACE or obtaining the best possible placing in a RACE or
from running in accordance with RULE 62.1
62.3.1 The TRAINER of a HORSE shall ensure that such HORSE does not run in an
inconsistent manner (also referred to as "reversal of form" or "in and out running").
Where inconsistent running has or may have occurred, an investigation into such
matter may be held in terms of the RULE
Why make these rules if they are not enforced?

Creates the impression that things are being policed to lend credibility to integrity of sport...if words do not lead to actions, then credibility suffers even greater damage than if there were no words...

One thing is for certain - I do not know how to train a horse BUT I can read and perhaps those involved in Racing should read and apply the very rules that bind them

They have no interest in doing that...it would involve doing their jobs and means time away from the trough funded by the punter...

Its very sad I guess they realise it's the only way they can stop him from winning the
CHAMPIONSHIP.
A really sad, sad day for S.A. racing when rules are not applied equally to everybody across the board

he will still win the title, taking the case to the high court will mean that the sentence cannot be enforced until the case has been heard and as he is already 26 clear with 4 months left and the case will take at least another 2 months before its heard I believe that S'manga can start preparing his victory speech (tu)
Give everything but up!
