Although not a favourite of mine due to me perceiving him to arrogant and is negative. But nobody can argue wrt his Record, most winning Capt, SA num 1 in Tests, etc. so congrats Graeme hope you enjoy ur retirement.
What must also be kept in mind that we are the only Country where Quotas are enforced which must also affected the effectiveness of being the Capt. Anyway it appears that Marriage and having Children negatively affect our TOP players, maybe priorities change and the WILL to succeed under the pressure thus wanes.
Now AB for Capt with Q De Kock to open and keep wicket but what we really need is also a class Spin Bowler. We need to now pick youngsters and STICK with them.

Smith could play for Ireland if he wanted as Ireland is not a test-playing nation.
KP will not be allowed to play for South Africa as he as already played for England which is a test-playing nation [ assuming you call what they do playing test cricket
< ].
Whether either of the above scenario's is desirable is an entirely differentstory......
