How do the experienced punters play each way betting? Like how do you go e/w on 5/2 or 7/2 horse

are you talking about win and place bets or the UK version of an each way bet?

win and place markets are probably the best way to go about it

e/w uk are level stakes so if you bet a 5/1 shot e/w at one 5th the odds and the horses just places you get your money back, lower than 5/1 you do some cash

but if you like a 5/1 shot in the win and place market you can split your stake say 25% win and %75 place

for example

R25 win before tax returns you R150
R75 place before tax at just say 9/10 returns you R142

i read a book...not quite sure of the name....and 1 pertinent fact was....that eachway....and by eachway i took it to mean...50/50...was the worst possible bet to play...u either played wins....or places...not win and place...

Ya I'm talking about win/place. Hibs would prefer to play just win or places instead of e/w on say 5/1 or under?

Depends tbh guys like Mr H prefer to play places full stop

There are many times playing places can work out better value than playing wins

Prime Example.
2nd Race Greyville,A P Strike is 5/1,is fit,has good draw and favourite coming back from a layoff. Also only 9 runners.
That is a nice ew bet,if fav is different class then you still have 2nd and 3rd to recoup you outlay.
