Tellytracks 45 Thousand Problem
11 years 4 months ago
With the owners of Tellytrack deciding to bring in their own decoders for the dissemination of racing, they have as far as i am lead to believe only ordered about 1000-2000.Since when you had to register with Tellytrack the number of subscribers was 45000,so whos going to lose out.Not any of their mates. The broederbond has taken over racing.Be very scared!!!v VERY SCared!!!!

Lqcal is no longer lekker, only on the big days imo. If you enjoy pre-race & post-race dissections of MR 60 hcaps & Maiden plates , you must have good taste?:S

For the VERY LAST TIME - just about ALL the operator's betting activities PROP UP the FAILING local product. This is not my delusional fantasy but merely what you can read in their financials.
So eliminating or compromising ANY portion of the current/potential market is akin to introducing more slow poison or financial suicide.
Moving on - so who's going to 'back up' these decoders when they a.) Fail ( as do the DSTV decoders - regularly ) and b.) When they get upgraded or replaced ? I can't see Multichoice being very interested. And if the picture fails for any reason? Who do you call? Tellytrack? That should be interesting.
Nevertheless - a fairly reliable source intimated to me on Wednesday evening that the matter may well be resolved in a fashion quite different from the story/rumours/strategy doing the rounds at present. And one which doesn't result in half of the betting distribution arm of racing being put 'out of the picture'.

Simply put ..... the " loss" making local product forms the foundation of Phum profit.
Through the use of existing infrastructure and government mandates supplied by local racing - Phum are able to generate profit via
- the export of local pictures
- sports betting turnover generated by the tote and bettingworld,
It's only fair and logical that these profits are then used to subsidies local stakes etc

Don't confuse "profit" and "stakes". Stakes are an expense and profits is whats left after expenses and goes to dividends. R7 out of every R8 of profit is comes from international interest according to the annual report. If you were in this game, where's the ball?
