Parade ring admission and dress code rule
11 years 5 months ago
Lets hope that this rule is strictly enforced because on especially "big race " days there are more uncles, aunts, cousins,,brothers, sisters of the real owners in the parade ring than racegoers for a normal race meeting making it near impossible to see the horses parade.

100 % agree- owners and trainers should adhere to a dress code
For the grooms - Justin Snaiths grooms dress top class - well done

I think an owner should be able to invite whomever he/she pleases into the parade ring - provided he/she has a runner in the race (not easy to enforce, though - other than showing the 'gatekeepers' their badges and pointing to the racecard for purposes of identification - at this point (as far as I know) in Gauteng many owners do not have badges - and that should be addressed soonest as per LG's comments the other day)

New rules for Parade Rings' country wide.
New Parade Ring criteria are to be implemented country wide. The Racing
Association, Gold Circle, Phumelela Gaming, The National Horseracing
Authority and Kenilworth Racing are in agreement that these rules will
enhance the image of the sport and uphold vital safety considerations.
Effective 11 January 2014, access to the Parade Ring on any raceday will
require either an RA, Gold Circle or NHRA badge. Those not belonging to an
Owners’ association, can receive valid badges distributed by the NHRA. A
letter was sent by the governing body clarifying this new arrangement, with
Colin Hall the contact person to help resolve any queries. Badge holders
can also bring additional guests into the Parade Ring, using day badges
acquired at Info kiosks on-course or by contacting the various Owners’
bodies.
A revised and relaxed dress code sensibly does not allow short pants and
sandals, and children under 12 years of age may not enter the parade ring
for safety reasons.

Perhaps I did not make myself clear - I have some doubts as to whether the 'info-kiosks' would be able to supply the 'day badges' - but let's hope they get their ducks in a row, as I think in principal the idea is a good one (tu)
