Apprentice banned

How about looking at other top jocks, sure this kind of incident happens often, why make an example of this poor fish who has already been banned. Bit of consistency, sure if we had a look at the way a certain top jock in the Cape rides we would find numerous examples of the type of ride given below.

APPRENTICE BANNED FOR 3 MONTHS

The National Horseracing Authority confirms that at an Inquiry held on 20 February 2008, which was adjourned, and resumed on 11 March 2008, Apprentice Jockey Luke Coleman was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.1, in that he failed to take all reasonable and permissible measures to ensure that the horse GOLDEN DICE improved its position until shortly before the 200m thereby not giving the horse a full opportunity to win or obtain the best possible placing in the 4th Race, run at Kenilworth Racecourse, on 9 February 2008.

Apprentice Coleman pleaded not guilty to the charge.

After considering all the evidence presented, and viewing the patrol videos, the Board found Apprentice L Coleman guilty as charged. Apprentice L Coleman was suspended from riding in races for a period of three months.

Apprentice L Coleman has the Right of Appeal.

An example should be made of any jock not attempting to gain the best position. 3 months is lenient in my opinion.

As young gun says, some consistency would be appreciated.
The p/a kid would probably have earned a life ban by now.
