Greyville Friday 29/11/2013

Gold Circle has announced that tonight's race meeting scheduled for Greyville has been postponed until tomorrow night (Saturday, 30 November 2013) with the first race going off at 17:15, shortly after the running of the R2million Sansui Summer Cup at Turffontein race course.

The water table at Greyville is very high at the moment and following a further 24mm of rain over the past two days, the penetrometer readings averaged 37 at 9am this morning but as high as 46 in some areas.

"The weather forecast gives us some hope that we will be able to race tomorrow but it is certainly no foregone conclusion," says Racing Executive Graeme Hawkins. "More rain is expected on Sunday and Monday and we find ourselves scrambling to try and save race meetings," he added.

A number of senior jockeys engaged to ride at Turffontein will have to forego their Greyville mounts but following a quick poll amongst the affected trainers it was agreed to go ahead and make every effort to salvage the meeting.

Hib's,maybe you will have more luck persuading some posters that it is wet there and not a figment of GC's imagination or a conspiracy concocted so as not to race!

Im hoping to get JP 6 or 7 rides to make a trip up worthwhile...he is a more than competent replacement...
