IF he was higher on the Jockeys' Log, there would have been more concern in racing circles about jockey Jannie Bekker, who was badly injured in a fall at Turffontein on Saturday. Freeracer cares, because Jannie is a good man and to my mind a top rider. He suffered five broken ribs and a punctured lung and is in intensive care at Alberton's Union hospital. "He is conscious and stable but battling to breathe without the lung machine,'' said his daughter Juanita. Wishing Jannie a speedy recovery.

It's not nice to see jocks getting injured in this sport. The pain they go thru. The families trauma. They always stand up and get back. Saw Figgy on Saturday. All the injuries he went thru already in the past and still come back for the love of it. Jannie get better soon.
