11 years 8 months ago
as discussed on the 400m to finish thread.......as hibs said on their that the sand/soft times is 6lengths per second and good fast tracks 5 lengths per second
now how do you compare south african tracks?
here are the average time if a MR76 with 58kg on his back in seconds
1000m
1 - vaal turf 58.3
1- scotts 58.3
3- turf outside 58.5
4- clair 58.9
4- fair 58.9
6- turf inside 59.0
7- arlington 59.6
8- flamingo 59.7
9- grey 59.9
10- vaal sand 60.4
11- kenil 60.6
12- durb 61.2
and see some dramatic changes over 2000m umder same conditions
1- clair 123.9
2- vaal turf 124.2
3- scott 124.4
4- grey 125.0
5- arlington 125.4
6- durban 126.0
7- turf outside 126.3
8- turf inside 126.7
9- fairview 126.8
10- kenilworth 127.7
11- vaal sand 128.9
12- flamingo 133.5
see how it compare.....
my question is , where do you work on 5lengths per second and where as 6lengths per second.......

Times are useful in 1000 and marathon.trips
Publications use between 0,18 to 0,20 per length.
You cannot compare diff track times

If you have 1000 x 76MR horses campaigning in 2000 m races and only 100 in sprints there should be more fluctuations
