Lance Benson found guilty

Forget the Guptas for petes sake, others issues in racing like how the R14,OOO,OOO-- for grooms housing was spent should be more of a priority for racing people???:S

I don't care what people might say about my posts on this subject, here are few facts about CP:

1. Banned from NHA and P for comments;
2. Banned from TT;
3. Reported to the SAHRC for hate speech by one of ABC posters;
4. Forced to apologise, his apology was posted here on ABC;
5. Insulted too many people over the years.

By CP own admission he did the following:

1. Insulted many people in racing when he was boozing and off his medication;
2. Swore at one of his writers and called him a kak trainer, this person is also a clanner;
3. Was eventually admitted into a mental institution for his own good.

I once saw him at Greyville a few years back and approached him because I wanted to get involved in one of his syndicates, without even hearing what I had to say he swore at me. Maybe he thought I wanted free tips.

Now this is a grown man with children that behaves like this, yes we can feel compassion but he has caused hurt to a lot of people with his comments over the years. He must be reminded hopefully it leads to a change.

Hibs you can delete this post but I challenge anybody to prove the facts incorrect.

Understand now where FC is coming from , we all guilty of judging people without hearing both sides of a story

?.....I watched LB for years while he was at GC......provide for people he knew tickets for the Met and other big paying events ......guys that were not his buddies but mere aquainences ......athlough I cannot condone what he did he was a likable guy and easily approachable ........I even had a go at him on another forum after he was suspended from GC......and one day at CaFe Deville I introduced myself and he candidly told me of his indiscretion with out mentioning the amount of money involved......at the time 20 times more money was missing/misappropriated and he naively believed that the PTB would not take criminal action against him as there were bigger fish to fry......I get the feeling that there may just be a bigger picture and LB was the only one they made an example of to set a precedent and stop further pilfering .....I like Charl feel for him has he has little future and will have grown kids and extended family to look in the eye after coming back from a correctional facility every weekend......he has cashed in his future securtiy endowment policy to pay GC and soon will be pentioned and unemployable.......we will never get to know what started the rot at GC but will this end it......

Sad to see the demise of someone career/life and like Johnny I certainly cant judge and I agree with OR this is a very sad situation..

.....Not knowing of LB previous conviction is inexcusable on the part of GC and if they did know they simply put the fox in the hen house.....FFS you don't take a recovering addict to a crack house....

I'm quite surprised by the reaction to my post... well just to clarify, I knew Lance on a professional and personal level and hence my comments in support of him as a human being going through a deep valley. He admitted guilt and will pay the price now and in future. I merely asked that he not be condemned as there are individual colour holders in racing with far more chequered backgrounds, all of whom have served their time and are now contributing greatly to racing again.

Perhaps forgiveness should be first on more personal agendas. Life goes on.

Professional bankers, cell phone companies, government officials steal millions from the public every single day. They are often honoured in the press for their business acumen, they stick their chests out and smile from ear to ear and then reward themselves with big bonuses. Criminal bankers in the US were at the root of the worldwide economic collapse. What happened? They were bailed out and paid themselves bonuses in the same year!

Yes, as someone pointed out, we all make mistakes, but hopefully someday the root of evil will be tackled - it is not found at the bottom of trees though, but right at the top!,

As for censorship/libel, this is always a grey area and I have always been supportive of no censorship whatsoever, so someone calling me a loser is fine, it's FC's right. Sometimes only crude words or expressions can describe feelings best. We're living in a new era, speech is free, more than ever. Emotions should be expressed even in cruel fashion, because many a thing said in anger is often true.
