July Company lucky draws...
11 years 11 months ago
We use to do this every year at work but sadly it has fallen away the last few years as the once a year July punters i have spoken to said there is a lack of media coverage on the events... Has this been the case with anyone else??

Hibs, my point is there is no build up to this event anymore, the man on the street just doesn't have any knowledge that its July day next weekend...

The Benoni Times did a story on the July this week - I must say I was shocked to see it as it was unexpected - Perhaps next year they will call Keith Ho and they can advertise there or any restaurants/ Schools/Clubs having a July Day can become involved - That is the only way it will regain the public interest that it used to have.

No stars of the show. The field is really ordinary. Perhaps a pocket power will reignite interest.
But I think unhappy owners are walking and the standard of our horses is waning

maybe because all the good racing is shown from UK . The July can never live up to the Derby and Royal Ascot and the Dubai meeting

you right Soodum. When I lived n SA i was frowned upon by my friends for having a bet, yet in the UK its just a normal thing to do and nobody looks down on you, in fact people who dont usually bet on hearing that you are having a bet would ask for a tip or give you a fiver to play for them. If the Queen can have a bet then anyone can.

Hoender, kzn has the biggest betting population, but its a dying population of old timers
I can tell you from personal experience that in the indian community(which are gold circles biggest customer base),the families of punters hate horse racing, but the irony is that the very same wives who kick their husbands balls in for punting horses happily go to suncoast and put the bread money into slots
