The Apache drifted out twice in the straight onto the second horse. The distance between them at the line was 0.10 lengths.

I'm not sure what to think tbh. The only thing that could save the Apache here is the size of the race.........

Fantastic performance from The Apache, given a terrific ride and battled back to for a famous victory.

For those unable to watch the live video, he tracked the early leaders in fifth until making his move coming round the final bend, he quickened into what looked like a winning lead early in the straight but the second horse came flying at him in the last 200 with what looked like a last gasp winning effort, The Apache would not be denied however and battled back to get his head in front in the last 10 metres.

The second has objected but it would be a very harsh call to demote the winner. No further live coverage from me, hopefully the stewards dont deny The Apache a worthy victory.

That was quick, it's a game of opinions and I thought he might keep the race. US stewards do seem harsh, certainly by UK standards. I thought The Apache was the best horse on the day and he has proved himself to be a Group 1 performer on the International stage, he is a great advert for SA breeding.
