UK Trifectas
11 years 11 months ago
The situation at present is a joke. Whether we pay R1 or R1000 per unit bet, there should not be ANY carryovers in the event of there being any winners whatsoever. If punters in UK win the bet, fair enough, they are paid out 13x the amount that we in south africa are paid out, and reduces the payout for us drastically. In the event that we in SA win, the maximum we win is 1/13th of the net pool, regardless of whether there are any winners in the UK or not. Given that the net pools for these trifectas are on average R13000 per race, the supposed benefit of commingling the pools, i.e. bigger pools, is really not happening. Why do we continue to accept this. It is always the case that the max the trifecta pays is around R1000, even with the most outlandish of results. This is accompanied by a carryover of the remainder of the pool. What a joke. This needs to stop. Not sure if I'm talking sh*t or not here.

Choose the races that you take the Trifecta wisely. For instance
Any big meeting in the UK like the Ascot Meeting where you almost certain that a ticket will have the winning combinations
Newmarket, Goodwood and York always have big Trifecta pools where you almost certain that a ticket will have the winning combinations as well
The night meetings at Kempton and Wolves the first couple races the Trifecta pool is always big. The only problem is that you have to hope for a favorite to win with an outsider to either to run second or third to get a nice dividend.
If the favorite or fancied runner dont win in most of the centres you almost certain to get a carryover.

Okay, so made a few calls here. There are now trifectas on 99% of uk racing but the pols are made up mainly from outside funds and not uk based punters. So in essence the comingling happens from sa to uk as uk punters not betting in trifectas in novice races for example as they were only offered in handicaps

That is my point. Why are we commingling when we are the ones that lose out. It makes sense to commingle the win and place pools, where the ratio of uk/sa funds is high, but absolutely zero sense to commingle the trifectas in this way

Thanks for posting Thor, finally someone who can see the light! I have posted about this in the past repeatedly and no proper explanation is forthcoming from the operators.(td)
This is daylight robbery considering SA makes up the major part of the pool yet is subject to the exchange ratio when payouts are made, A TOTAL RIPOFF FOR FFSAKE!!!:X

The general consensus i get, Mikesack, is that people will tend to accept what they do not fully understand. Cant see this trifecta situation changing unfortunately.

It would be good if Winning Ways could find a way of addressing this with the operators please.:S
Also if quartets can be offered stand alone on UK meetings without commingling, why has the Trifecta gone the commingling route???
