Golf,week commencing 13th June
12 years 1 week ago
This week we head to The Merion Golf Club for the U.S. Open and St.Omer for the European Tour event.
It compares to watching Nicole Scherzinger and Susan Boyle undressing, one you cant take your eyes off and the other
you wont bother watching.
All U.S.Open courses are set up for a stiff test on accuracy off the tee with thick rough lining both sides of the fairway.
They have had a collosal amount of rain this week and the course has softened up and will not be as fast or difficult
as I would have liked,it certainly negates somewhat the premium on accuracy and brings the longer ball strikers into play.
1.Graeme McDowell 25/1...two wins in last 4 starts, made 7 from 7 cuts in this event..if any player has set up
suitability its G-Mac.
2.Bill Haas 80/1...53rd in fairways hit,13th in GIR and 11th in scrambling, had 6 top tens this year.6/1 for top ten finish.
3.Ryan Palmer 100/1...survived last 7 cuts and placed 21st in 2011.7/2 for top 20 finish
4.Hideki Matsuyama 350/1..great stats for this type of course..The bet im taking is with Ladbrokes. He is 15/2 to be
top Asian Player, with only 11 players and 1/4 odds 1,2,3 its a good bet. GET ON
5.Doug La Belle...750/1 and a massive 500/1 in The Americans Only Market,,,A big outsider always places at this event
having a small bet
will post 1st round 3 balls later,.
In The Susan Boyle event, sorry the Najeti Et Golfs Open I have had small ew bets on
1.Francois Calmels 50/1...hope he doesn't get the hump
2.Wil Besselig 66/1

Low scores will be the order and the guys who are good putters as they can have a go with these "slow" greens.
Now that Adam Scott has his first major in his bag at 20/1 I am gong to have an each way punt on him plus a few others which have not as yet been decided upon. Only a 5 hour time difference so no late late night viewing(tu)

July Mad "dead heat rules" usually apply. So if 5 players tie for 6th you would divide your odds and stake by 5.

The Majors are IMHO wide open.
Who would have thought that Angel Cabrera and Adam Scott would decide who won the Masters.
Woods has a chance but is no longer immortal.
McIlroy is surrounded by too much baggage, including tennis rackets.
Top Europeans not playing well at all,i.e Donald,Westwood,McIlroy,Poulter etc.
SA Players not creating much at the moment.
Conclusion ,will probably be a Yank, suggest Baddely or from the Rest, maybe Peter Hanson.

I'd be gobsmacked if Baddely makes the cut
