Related bets

Hi. Sorry to open to new thread. I did post my double on the french open. I took the bet before the quarter finals for novak eliminated in semi and then nadal to win outright. Now the bookie did pay out then and hour later decided to split the bets into singles saying they related. Yes they are in same side of draw but different results could have resulted in a loss. I am going to report this matter to the gambling board. Any advice first?

The related part of the bet is the fact that Novak would not be able to play in the final so the price on the nadal outright win would have been shorter without the 2nd fav in the final.Your bookie shouldnt have taken the bet imo

They took the bet, paid out, then split to two singles. I emailed the complaints department and will follow up.

The Viper, I agree the bookie should never had laid you that bet but would have to agree with Hibs. In order to win the tournament Nadal would have to knock Novak out in the semi's as they were in the same side of the draw. So IMO they are related BUT the bookie should have informed you at the time of taking the bet or not given you the bet.

Sorry to hijack but on a similar vein. I tried to take India Group Winner and Sri Lanka Group winner double ....and was rejected as 'related bet type'. I am confused as to why that would be ....I did not pursue it just shrugged ad mved on but would love to understand how it is related when it is two different groups.

Hi Viper - unfortunately you going to be fighting a losing battle. In the Ts and Cs they have a paragraph on related bets. If i had to guess the bookie i would say you are using bet.co.za

I didn't choose the #puntlife, the #puntlife chose me!
