Joe used to come to Loveday st to do settling with Sally.
He had on one occasion bad weekend punting Monday morning settling time and there was joe with a old biscuit box made from some form of metal.

Told the clerk there 20 000 rand in the biscuit box in 20 and 10 Rand notes.

After opening up the box it was so old the money was like paper mash. Glue

It had become mouldy and wet it was 20 000 Rand worth of paper know just paper mash.

Joe was a character but least not forget David Azar His grand son.

Used to send Zorro with cash to get on.

On that subject what about Solly never missed a meeting.
He would have been so proud of Dominique today.

Nick Claaasen was tops,What a trainer Juveniles in Gauteng Forrest King that sprinter.

It was legend time every Thursday night ladies nights at the clubs all the jocks used to come and tell good stories
Stephen Jupp was tops always a good story.
Good old Gerhard Thomas lighting cigars at sun city with 50 rand notes.

But this racing story is good.

There was a big punter in Alberton loved horses so 2 well known racing people are going to get him to punt for them.
They invite him to watch 2 horse work at the stirrup club near Meyerton.
The one horse is a grey must be 12 odd years old.
The other is a bay must be 15 years old.

They even hire a Mercedes so fetch the punter in.
The grey wins by a distance .

The punter all exited gives them 50 000 rand to put on the grey horse in the last race at Newmarket.

The last race has a grey horse from the late Greg Botten stable it can't win on form but to make sure GReg is given a present to make sure it can't win .

They go to tattersall a nd place multiple small bets on horse to around 500 Rand and after they add on the Zeros ,and go back and give the punter the tickets showing 50 000 rand at around 10to1 on the horse.

The rest is history it ran last.

The poor punter.
