Handicappers please explain

Just seen Warriors Passion MR raised to 71 after her maiden win, up from 64. Please could someone explain how considering who she beat!

If Ruby Chimes was used as the line horse the rating would be 71 (A length over 1600m = 2 MR points, so 2,25 lengths = 4,5, rounded up = 5 Ruby Chimes MR 66 + 5 = 71).

The idea is to try and identify a horse that runs 'consistently' and then use that horse's rating as a base to calculate the ratings of the rest - well that's the theory anyway :

As Frodo says they use a horse that they feel ran to its rating and Ruby Chimes has received a cheque in five out of six starts so is a consistent type in the context of that field.
