Some advice needed Clanners

Hi Clanners,

I have read here previously there are some IT and IS boffins and i am really looking for some advice....seriously

I am about to start my Masters in Business Information Systems and i am looking for a topic. Horseracing is my passion and i am trying to come up with a topic where i can use horseracing and making it somehow IS related.

I would REALLY appreciate it if i can get the views from clanners who can give me some input or ways i can go about this. Even just general ideas will be appreciated. The course is thesis based.

I have taken the plunge to get my Masters after having not studied in 15 years.

I suggest you approach the NHRA as it seems to me that their systems could do with modernisation.

main thing is your methodology has to fit the answer/support of your hypothesis....etc etc. how many words does the thesis need to be?
i've done a few of these and busy with a big one at the moment....euch. painful, i know, do feel for you!!. Try to pick something that you're going to keep an interest in....nothing worse than writing about something you find boring

Don, it has to be 50 000 words and it's part time over 18 months. Like i said, horse racing is my interest, hence i would like to link it with the thesis......then i know i won't lose interest.

sorry cant' they're at UK Uni, and current one hasn't been finished....but my topic is very different in any case - re leverage of branding. But I can perhaps be of assistance in milling about a topic...and how to formulate one? do they stipulate how much of those 50K words go on models and critical analysis, and how much exactly you have for findings etc.?
