THE MILLION RAND QUARTET!? (2012 Summer Cup)

Winning a bet on SA horse racing is now ‘officially’ as improbable as winning the National Lottery’s Powerball on a Tuesday or Friday night..?

Forgive me for rounding-off again punters, but I think most won’t mind the R58k odd grand between R941k and an even MILLION in my blog heading! I’m sure you’ll agree the actual staggering amount of this Quartet payout is more the issue at hand than my rounding it off to a Million. Bearing in mind that the difference of R58k would, in normal circumstances, actually be a very big QT payout in itself...
The main issue with me posting about these huge upsets is that no one in the industry seems to comment about these dubious decisions after the fact. Fair enough, the race has gone, the payouts collected by ‘one or two’ punters (only) and the rest of us have done our tom!
Why rant & whinge I hear you say, why indeed..?

Jackson- 3rd last in the July (if memory serves), and the payouts were also huge there!
Mujaarib 12th in last weekend’s Summer Cup- three donkeys in the top four! Result- probably the biggest QT ever in this country, R941,509.60!? (By comparison Race 2 QT paid R45.60! Seem legit guys..?)

These are just 2 examples of more & more dodgy results in recent times, but bear in mind that these are two of the top 3 races in our
entire racing calendar! Message to the ‘Fat Cats’ in SA racing- think you’re attracting more people to the sport, I think not boys! As I’ve said before, just look around the local totes and ignoring the long queues of Nigerians placing R5.00 soccer bets; try and spot the horse racing punters- not many, and I’ll wager you that. In my trip around the Cape yesterday, 3 Totes I went into were like morgues!
This smallpunter did about R400.00 (way too much for him!) on the meeting and the feature race, with various bets and all-to-comes and came away with Zack! Thanks Glenn Hatt. The other race he started as favourite also had a big QT- R51k!!! Reminder to all- this is horse racing, NOT the bloody Lotto!

A R66k PA, R1,73m P6 to 1.86 tickets only, a R941k Quartet- don’t think we’ll see the like of these again chaps..? Oh, I forget, this is racing 'African-style'- should only be a month or two for us to see new records being set...

Come now Smaall Punter, quieten down and take a deep breath. Now listen I'm no eggspert but I seriously think you need to change your strategy big time.

So imagine if the Lotto or Powerball was easy to win like predictable nos. being drawn every " meeting" so that the masses could log in these numbers eg. 1-2-3-4-5-6 etc. and cash the winnings and live happily ever after!<

So do youself a favour and the next time the July or Summer Cup, [not the Met b'cos favorites Jackson and Variety Club cud dominate] comes around, brass the obvious favorites and go wide. Look for lightweights that offer value and steer clear of big name trainers, rather go for the less fancied stable companions.

Anyone who goes to the lengths this pratt does to open a blog to winge cannot be taken seriously, he is absolutely clueless and is of the opinion that every race should run according to the betting which is how he constructs his bets, he hasn't got the ability to study form and by his own admission, spends his life in totes and pubs waiting for the next big payout so that he can spew his bullsh!t and justify his sad sad life,...I doubt he has had a bet for years and is probably the tea boy at his local GA meetings...

TItch absolutely, every month or so he comes on here and tries to get a few reactions. If this game is so crooked like he says why does he continue to play?

Maybe someone should explain to small punter that a handicap in theory should give every horse an equal chance of winning, therefore you get more upsets in handicaps than fixed weight races. As Mike says less upsets in the Met as the July and Summer Cup as horses run off set weights not their merit ratings.
